Welcome to this FAQ. You will find here a compilation of answers to questions you might have about RepDepot.
- Q : What is a private replay ?
A : A private replay means that it will not appear in any list or search results. It will only be available using the URL displayed in the "Linking to this replay" section, so don't lose it ! - Q : On a replay's page, why are some players' names written on black background ?
A : It's because each player's name is colored using the color the player had in the game. So when a player uses a bright color like white or yellow, it is very hard to read on RepDepot because of the white background. Therefore, I added a black background just for the name so that you can read it :) - Q : What kind of files can I upload ? What is the size limit ?
A : You can upload replays (.rep files) and archives containing replays (.zip or .rar files). The file you upload must not exceed 10240 KB (= 10 MB). - Q : The site doesn't look very good with Internet Explorer 6.
A : Yeah I know. I've done my best so that RepDepot would work fine with IE 6 but there are some technical issues I don't want to spend time fixing. IE 6 is an old browser, IE 7 has been out for years so just upgrade to it or deal with IE's design issues. Sorry ! - Q : The version for replay xxx is wrong.
A : The version number is not saved inside the replay. Therefore it is computed according to the date the game was played, which means it can be sometimes erroneous especially when StarCraft glitches and saves a wrong game date (happened a lot during the 1.10 times). Sometimes, when the date is obviously wrong, RepDepot is able to identify it and wanrs you about the version and date being corrupted. - Q : There is no winner for replay xxx.
A : This happens from time to time because there is a good chance RepASM's algorithm is wrong, so it chooses not to try guessing who won the game. You need to know that the name of the winner is not stored inside the replay, so I had to come up with an algorithm that would find it according to the last actions that were made. - Q : Winner for replay xxx is wrong.
A : This can happen on rare occasions where RepASM's algorithm to find the winner fails. Please contact me and give me the URL to your replay, I'll try to fix it (though I can't promise anything). Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience ! - Q : The riddle (or captcha) told me my answer was erroneous but it wasn't !
A : Please keep in mind that typos aren't managed. For example, if you wrote "overlore" instead of "overlord", then there's nothing I can do about it. Other than that, all answers are correct and were all checked. Answers are case-insensitive so answers like "OverLOrd" will be OK. - Q : I can't solve the riddle (or captcha)
A : Yeah, there are tricky questions :) Improve your StarCraft knowledge by visiting Blizzard's StarCraft Compendium, you will find helpful stuff there ! This might also be because there is a 30-minute time limit on a question's lifespan. Just try again ! - Q : I cannot post comments anymore !
A : To avoid flooding, there's a limit of 3 comments every 10 minutes. If your latest comment is less than 10 minutes old, you won't be able to post. - Q : I cannot upload replays anymore !
A : To avoid flooding, there's a limit of 3 uploads every 10 minutes. Zip your replays if you want to post more at once ! - Q : How do I watch old replays ?
A : Please see the little guide here. - Q : Instead of a nice WYSIWYG text editor for comments, I get a normal text area.
A : This might be because I made some changes to the style of the page or because I upgraded the text editor. Force the reload of the page and it should get back to normal. - Q : In a search result, the same map name appears on different lines and with different pages.
A : It's because these are different versions of the map, even if the name was not modified.
